Amos Yong

Amos Yong é um teólogo pentecostal baseado nos Estados Unidos.

Nascido em uma família de etnia chinesa em Taiping, Malásia, migrou para os Estados Unidos onde estudou na Califórnia e Portland até obter seu doutorado em Religião e Teologia na Boston University, sob orientação de Robert Cummings Neville (1998) sobre uma teologia cristã a respeito das religiões mundiais.

Dado a seu interesse pelo cristianismo (e pentecostalismo) global, bem como interação com outras religiões e ciência, o prolífico trabalho de Yong ganhou notoriedade. Publicou mais de 50 livros e 200 artigos. Adicionalmente investiga também temas diversos que são poucos discutidos, como a teologia da disabilidade, a hospitalidade e o diálogo entre ciência e experiência do Espírito Santo. É um dos atores contemporâneos envolvidos no diálogo teológico entre cristianismo e budismo.

Foi presidente da Society for Pentecostal Studies (2008-09), editor da PNEUMA, Journal of Religion, Disability & Health e Religious Studies Review.

Sua carreira acadêmica inclui ser deão no Fuller Theological Seminary, professor na Regent University School of Divinity, na cátedra J. Rodman Williams Professor of Theology, na Bethel University em St. Paul e no Bethany College of the Assemblies of God. Além do trabalho acadêmico, também exerce o ministério pastoral, sendo filiado à Igreja Internacional do Evangelho Quadrangular.
